Composers' Background

Terri Finck and Pat Harris      The mother-daughter song team of Pat Harris and Terri Finck co-write a number of their songs while writing other songs individually. Living in different towns, they collaborate by phone, internet, and by frequent get-togethers.  The ladies perform their songs and dances for children in interactive shows in schools, libraries, and book stores.  Children are invited to sing along, act out humorous songs with animal puppets, perform easy dances, and play rhythm instruments.

Terri Finck is the main performer and principal artist on all the albums, assisted by other outstanding musicians.  Her mom, Pat, assists during shows with dance steps, instruments, and puppetry. Terri’s beautiful singing voice and her magic rapport with children are making her a much sought-after children’s performer!

Pat and Terri recently completed filming all the music segments (using their Galliump music) for a television series for children, “Mother Goose and Friends,” a project produced by Klamath Community Television in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The series has won several national awards and may eventually be aired on public television.

Both ladies strongly believe that high quality children’s music impacts children profoundly. Recent brain development research is actually proving that regular music involvement can increase cognitive learning and overall intelligence in young children and older children as well. In addition, good music speaks to the soul, furnishing avenues for creativity and a love for life!

Patricia Harris holds a Master’s Degree in Music from the University of Oregon, Eugene, Oregon. She has taught school for 24 years, including elementary school music and classroom experience. Pat retired early to write and perform children’s songs with her daughter. She also teaches private piano and music classes in her home and leads young children’s music in her church. Pat also subs on her church’s pipe organ.

Terri Finck holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Oregon where she graduated with a major in business and a minor in vocal music. Terri is currently enrolled in the Masters in Teaching Program at Concordia University, Portland, Oregon, with her degree to be completed in December 2014.  She has performed since early childhood, beginning in a family singing group with her three older sisters, performing for churches, schools, and community events. Terri occasionally teaches music classes for young children, involving her own two small children.
